My name is Brian and I am a highly successful digital marketer with over 9 years of experience in the industry, but unlike many online success stories - my story is one that almost never happened.

It all began in the year 2013: I was a college student trying to work to pay my way through school, but jobs in my college town were scarce and I was struggling to make ends meet. Two months earlier I had been evicted from my apartment because I didn't have the money for rent. With no family to fall back on, I resorted to sleeping in my car and crashing on friends' couches until I could get back on my feet. I was waiting tables and barely had enough money to buy food, let alone pay for the remaining credits I needed to finish school and get my finance degree.

The following semester passed and I watched as all my friends were graduating and getting comfortable entry level jobs; meanwhile I was stuck in a dead end town with no easy solution. At the time I felt like I had hit rock bottom and was unsure if I was ever going to be able to find a way out.

One night I decided to go to a local sports bar by myself and grab one of the beers on special. As I pulled up a chair there was a man a few years older than I was sitting down at the stool beside me. We struck up a conversation as we sat and watched the game. Deducing that I was around college age he asked me what I was studying and what my plans were after college. I told him about my situation and that I didn't have any clue what my plans were. He paused for a moment, squinting his eyes at me before he spoke, "how would you like to come work for me and learn how to do digital marketing?"

I had no marketing experience, but I accepted his offer despite not knowing what I was getting myself into. He told me that I seemed capable enough and that he would agree to mentor me - I was desperate and had nothing to lose. I took the job and I followed everything he told me. Within two months I was outperforming every employee at the company - turns out I was a natural. I had taken to the craft like a fish to water. My early success allowed me to earn enough money to pay for my remaining college courses and graduate with my degree. However, after graduation, I realized that I wasn't destined for finance, my true calling was career in digital marketing.

Fast forward a few years and life was better than I could have imagined - the opportunity allowed me to experience a lifestyle that I never thought possible. I was eating at the finest Michelin star restaurants, partying in the VIP sections of the most exclusive clubs, and flying cross country on private jets.

By 2019 business was booming and the company had more than tripled in size. On a whim we decided to apply for the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies - thinking how cool it would be if our names got mentioned. After months of waiting the results came in - we were stunned to find that our company ranked #56 on the nationwide list and #1 for the fastest-growing marketing agencies in the state. As if things couldn't get better we repeated the success when we applied the following year - making it onto the Inc. 5000 list two years in a row! Looking back on where I had started compared to what we had achieved was one of the highlights of my life and it has since solidified my passion for digital marketing.

I feel like I owe a great debt to this industry and that is why I started this side project: Lost Dog Media. I want to offer my knowledge and expertise to help small businesses make their dreams come true, just like I did.
